Herein, gender-specific relationships between MetS, diabetes mellitus (DM) and hsCRP in a general Japanese population were examined.\nMethods\nThis cross-sectional study included 6436 males and females examined between 2010 and 2017 as part of the Jichi Medical School Cohort Study Ⅱ. Total subjects were divided into tertiles according to hsCRP values and the odds ratios (ORs) in MetS and DM were compared by gender.\nResults\nThere exists a dose–response relationship between hsCRP levels and prevalence of MetS in both males and females. The conditional (adjusted) ORs of DM for given MetS status were not statistically significant, on the other hand, all the conditional ORs of MetS for given DM status were statistically significant (p<0.01) for both males and females (males: ORs for the second and third tertiles, DM- 1.7[95% confidence interval, 1.2-2.4], 2.4[1.8-3.4], DM+ 2.8[1.8-4.2], 3.1[2.1-4.5]; females: DM- 3.2[1.9-5.4], 5.4[3.2-9.9], DM+ 2.9[1.6-5.4], 4.2[2.3-7.5]). Furthermore, it was statistically shown that the conditional ORs of females are greater than those of males (female-to-male ratios of ORs for the second and third tertiles, 1.9, p=0.023; 2.2, p=0.005).\nConclusion\nInflammation, as measured by hsCRP, was elevated in both males and females with MetS in this Japanese population; however, hsCRP was elevated in patients with DM, probably because of high prevalence of MetS in patients with DM. hsCRP is a more suitable predictor of MetS for females than males.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_2_full_name_3":{"attribute_name":"著者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"names":[{"name":"日野, 有美香","nameLang":"ja"}]},{"names":[{"name":"阿江, 竜介","nameLang":"ja"}]},{"names":[{"name":"江島, 伸興","nameLang":"ja"}]},{"names":[{"name":"中村, 好一","nameLang":"ja"}]},{"names":[{"name":"石川, 鎮清","nameLang":"ja"}]}]},"item_2_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"自治医科大学"}]},"item_2_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"1881-252X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Hino, Yumika","creatorNameLang":"en"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Ae, Ryusuke","creatorNameLang":"en"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Eshima, Nobuoki","creatorNameLang":"en"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Nakamura, Yosikazu","creatorNameLang":"en"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Ishikawa, Shizukiyo","creatorNameLang":"en"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2021-05-13"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"自治医科大学紀要 1881-252X(43)p21-29 2021.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"191.1 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"自治医科大学紀要 1881-252X(43)p21-29 2021","url":"https://jichi-ir.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/1023/files/自治医科大学紀要 1881-252X(43)p21-29 2021.pdf"},"version_id":"f9275448-50d6-4dd3-98ec-b3e758f25fb7"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"cohort study","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"diabetes mellitus","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"gender differences","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"high-sensitivity C-reactive protein","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"metabolic syndrome","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Gender differences in the association of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein with metabolic syndrome and diabetes mellitus in a Japanese population: Jichi Medical School Cohort Study II","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Gender differences in the association of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein with metabolic syndrome and diabetes mellitus in a Japanese population: Jichi Medical School Cohort Study II","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"2","owner":"12","path":["40"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2021-05-13"},"publish_date":"2021-05-13","publish_status":"0","recid":"1023","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Gender differences in the association of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein with metabolic syndrome and diabetes mellitus in a Japanese population: Jichi Medical School Cohort Study II"],"weko_creator_id":"12","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-08-25T05:58:45.551753+00:00"}
